Okay, so this is my first time blogging and, after spending at least a half hour trying to figure out how to connect with my correct gmail (I have a school gmail that won't allow me to blog), I realized that I know nothing about google+, or at least very little.
I thought about all of the things I could blog about on a Friday morning and, since my head was still fuzzy, I decided to just make it a silly blog to start of with.
So.... Three ways to get confused on a Friday morning... Why three ways? Because I don't have FIVE, and TWO seems too small, and it appears that most BLOGS have a numbered list. So, THREE is the magic number...
1. TRY TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE YOU DRINK COFFEE! I truly want to believe that I am not addicted to coffee, but there is something about it that clears the mind in the morning. Oh yeah, its the caffeine! A couple of years ago, my son had to "make a model" of a molecule in his honors chem class. (Thanks Mr. Roth for all of the cool hands-on stuff you made the kids do, and thanks, son, for telling me about projects you had to do the NIGHT BEFORE they were due!) Anyways...guess which molecule I suggested for him? Well, here's a picture of the model below....see if you can figure it out.

If you said, caffeine, DING DING DING DING! You are correct. If you want to know more about the molecule caffeine, you should take a look at this fantastic video that I found as I was tweeting with my tweep Bob Abrams @misterabrams (also a wheel-of-fortune star) last week about Plutonium but somehow wandered upon this one. It is from the University of Nottingham - "The Periodic Table of Videos" - http://www.periodicvideos.com/videos/mv_caffeine.htm and in the video, the scientist extracts caffeine from coffee, all the while describing its molecular make-up and adding little tid-bits of information.
2. Try to help my son return his rented school books!
People, if you don't have a child in college yet, let me tell you. THINGS HAVE CHANGED! Gone are the days where you go to one little bookstore on campus and get the books you need at the beginning of the semester and either sell them to a friend or back to the bookstore at the end of the semester. Students can now buy books from the campus bookstore, buy books online, rent books from the bookstore, rent books online, get an ebook that goes on a computer, get an ebook that only goes on a NOOK, and well...the list is extensive. So, this morning, my son has to return two of the books he rented from amazon.com or else he gets charged for them. We must have discussed this three or four times now. He has to print off the return shipping label and find a way to get the books back to amazon. He must figure out how to integrate the online explanation with the paper explanation with my suggestions. No, we don't have tape. No, we don't have scissors. No we don't have packaging materials. After several discussions, my son called the Mail Vault in Sylvania and they said they would help him ship the items. Who would have known that sending a book back to amazon would be such a task? But, it's all about learning new things and integrating those 21st Century Skills, right? I'm proud of him for being able to figure out all of his books and book returns in a time when there are so many....maybe too many....options.
3. And the third way to get confused on a Friday morning? Try to learn something new....LIKE LEARNING TO BLOG
Have a Great Friday EVERYONE! ~ Lara
